Who we are and what we do

COWI is an international engineering consultancy company founded in 1930. Primarily located in Scandinavia, the UK, North America and India. COWI employs more than 7,500 people and we offer our expertise in urban development, energy, industry, buildings, transportation, water, climate adaptation, and environment.

We co-create value with our partners and clients. We deliver studies and concept design, design development, planning/permissions, final and detailed design, construction management, project management contract (PMC) services, and asset management.

Sustainability is at the heart of COWI's vision and strategy. With our extended expertise within sustainability, we have a special responsibility to accelerate the green transition. The ambition is clear. Within approximately three to five years, 100 percent of our revenue must come from projects driving sustainability.

Working as a PhD at COWI

Interdisciplinary work is our core business. We cooperate across disciplines, customer portfolios, and business units all over the world. As a PhD, you possess the ability to work interdisciplinary and are able to acquire new knowledge and apply it in solving complex challenges. The skills you have developed as a PhD within e.g. analytical/technical work, project management, communication & writing proficiency, and stakeholder management are all essential prerequisites for well-executed projects that create high value for our clients and COWI.
